Public Tour of the Herbal World

When 20-year-old Emil Ebneter founded his own spirits shop in 1902 in Appenzell, he laid the foundation for today''s Appenzeller Alpenbitter AG. Join a tour through the herbal world and follow a hot lead to uncover the secret of Appenzeller Alpenbitter.

This free tour allows you to experience the herbal world with all your senses and get closer to the well-kept secret: the original recipe of the Appenzeller Alpenbitter with 42 selected herbs. Learn more about the 42 herbs, the distillation of premium products, and the Appenzeller family business.

The free tour lasts approximately 1.5 hours and concludes with a tasting, where you will get to know the Appenzeller Alpenbitter and other specialties of the house.
Public tours are held in German every Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. Visitations (German, French, or English) are available year-round for groups of ten or more with prior registration.
