The Tithe House is located on the grounds of the historic Elgg Castle, first mentioned in records in 1166 AD. It is one of the best-preserved castles in Europe. In early 2020, the Tithe House was gently renovated and opened to the public as a premium event location with a stylish banquet hall, a unique vaulted cellar, and a special outdoor area. It is perfect for corporate and private events as well as meetings for seminars, conferences, and conventions that value an mesmerizing atmosphere and a unique experience.

Prime Location

The bus stops directly in front of the Tithe House and connects you in 60-minute intervals within 8 minutes directly to Elgg station (S12) and Winterthur main station. The A1 motorway exit Matzingen is only 10 minutes away. There are 20 own parking spaces available, additional on request.

Stylish Banquet Hall

The banquet hall, which is connected directly to the front garden, is perfect for small groups, aperitifs, seminars, workshops, and meetings. Impressive are the high walls, the original grain reception basin, and the perfectly preserved staircase from the 17th century.

Unique Vaulted Cellar

The vaulted cellar with its original clay brick floor comfortably seats 50 guests. The perfectly symmetrical arches with a room height of over 3.50 meters give the space charm and class.

Unique Outdoor Area

The garden area in front of the Tithe House and under the chestnut grove offers space, in good weather, to conduct both the wedding and the aperitif and even dining at the long table with a view of the castle.

Where a drawbridge once protected the castle, there is now a natural castle ascent covered with chestnut trees. In summer, this "nature terrace" is perfect for dining in the green -- impressive against the castle backdrop!
