How warm is it in the tunnel and how should our guests dress?

Accepted Answer

Our heated event rooms, including the event cavern and our seminar rooms, allow you and your guests to dress appropriately for your celebration. If you have planned activities outside these rooms in the tunnel, we recommend sturdy footwear and a jacket, as it is usually about 15 degrees Celsius there, the terrain can be uneven at times, and the ground is not as clean as in our indoor areas.

Do guests have claustrophobia in the VersuchsStollen?

Accepted Answer

Indeed, this is very rare. Our event cavern is only 70 meters from the tunnel entrance, and most of our tunnel rooms offer enough space for even a truck to pass through. In fact, our rooms are often larger than your local supermarket. A helpful guideline: if your guests can pass through a highway tunnel without issues, they are well suited for us!

Is there technical equipment to meet our needs?

Event Cavern for events up to 200 people: Since spring 2022, we have been working with Winkler Livecom for technical equipment. Besides decorative technical elements like wall projections and colored spotlights, we now also have excellent sound and lighting technology, which is very easy to operate. Microphones, projector and screen, amplifiers and speakers, stage equipment -- everything is available in the Event Cavern. Want to dance? The event cavern has disco lights that automatically synchronize with the music. Additionally, there is a disco ball and fog machine -- all controllable via tablet. Do you have guests arriving from abroad? Our live streaming technology can even cover such requirements! For larger events over 200 people: The ''Glück-auf'' cavern is like a blank canvas. The frame is good. Stage elements are available on-site. Hanging points for event truss and cabling for the control room are pre-installed by Winkler Livecom. All other technical devices are brought in and installed on-site according to customer agreement by our technical partner, operated during the event, and then properly dismantled afterward.

How long can we celebrate in the VersuchsStollen Hagerbach?

One of the great advantages of celebrating in our event venue in the mountain is the ability to party late into the night without concern for other guests or neighbors. Events in the tunnel are possible until 4 AM, with an additional charge of CHF 220 per started hour from midnight.

What are the payment terms?

Accepted Answer

Basically on invoice--credit card (Visa, Mastercard, Diner) or cash is also possible. For events with a turnover over CHF 5000, a prepayment of 50% may be required.

Are there exclusive agreements with a service provider?

Accepted Answer

No. We have ''Preferred Partners'' like Winkler Livecom for technical equipment and dine&shine for catering, which are not bound to our in-house kitchen.

Are there parking facilities?

Yes, free parking spaces are available right in front of the tunnel. For large events, additional spots can be rented from the farmer.

Yes, almost the entire tunnel is wheelchair accessible, and a separate WC is available.

Is it possible to use the location exclusively?

Weddings are always exclusive with us. Other events can be negotiated. However, our facility is primarily a research infrastructure, and its work must be guaranteed.

In gastronomy and events, we are well-equipped. Almost everything is possible--from wedding celebrations, group experiences, to seminars and concerts. But VersuchsStollen Hagerbach offers much more--building material testing laboratory, research infrastructure, 1:1 tunnel construction simulations, and more.

Do you offer accommodation options for guests?

Accepted Answer

We do not have our own rooms. However, there are several hotels in the area in Sargans, Walenstadt, Unterzerzen, Flumserberg, Bad Ragaz, or Maienfeld. We are happy to assist you with recommendations.

Do you have your own catering?

Accepted Answer

Yes, we have an in-house kitchen in the mountain at the Hagerbach restaurant. We are also open to events with external caterers, as long as they are professionally equipped.

How do we entertain children during the wedding celebration?

Accepted Answer

During celebrations in our Event-Kaverne, the associated "Alphüttli" can be used as a children's room. There, children can have some space and still be part of the celebration. Drawing, watching Netflix, or playing with our large Hubelino marble run--kids won't get bored. Meals can be taken in the children's area in Alphüttli or together with parents in the Event-Kaverne. Seating for up to 5 small children is provided.

When children are tired of partying, the adjacent seminar room Alpenqueren can serve as a temporary "sleeping area," allowing parents to celebrate even longer.

Are there special programs to entertain our guests?

A rustic tunnel aperitif marks the start of a unique evening. A demolition demonstration is perfect to end the aperitif inside the tunnel and continue from there. Team-building challenges, wine tastings, combination offers with service providers in the Heidiland region, and much more.

How much time is needed between courses at dinner?

Accepted Answer

For events, it is important to find a balanced schedule to ensure all guests have a pleasant experience. There should be enough time for conversations with guests without anyone going hungry or feeling bored. At the same time, the schedule should allow the serving staff not to rush and to serve the dishes at the highest quality. Here are some basic principles: - From entering the hall until the first course, at least 30 minutes. This gives guests 15 minutes to find their seats and chat a bit on the way. It also allows the staff 15 minutes for drinks service. - Between courses, at least 45 minutes, with the main course at least 1 hour. This provides sufficient time to serve, eat, clear plates, and refill drinks for the next course. - Longer speeches or program segments are recommended after the main course. Such segments often last longer than planned, and a time lag with the subsequent dessert is easier to handle than during the main course, which should have meat cooked to perfection. For example, if the main course is served at 8:30 PM, the game or speech block should start around 9:30 or 9:45 PM. - For a well-rounded event in our event location, we recommend starting dance or bar activities only after dessert. Starting dance activities earlier can lead to neglecting the dessert, and guests who do not want to dance may feel unentertained.

During events, it's important to find a balanced schedule to ensure a pleasant experience for all guests. There should be enough time for conversation without anyone getting hungry or bored. At the same time, the schedule should allow service staff to work smoothly and serve high-quality dishes.

To achieve this, a few basic rules apply:

- From the moment guests enter the hall until the first course, at least 30 minutes. This gives guests 15 minutes to find their seats and chat en route. It also allows 15 minutes for the drinks service.

Yes. There is no bad weather in the tunnel! If an aperitif is planned in front of the tunnel, we have the front part of the restaurant or the Inspiration Room as a backup option.

How far in advance should I book the location?

The earlier, the better. We can also hold a provisional reservation for a month if you need more time to decide. Especially popular Fridays before Christmas fill up quickly. Don''t wait too long.

What is mined in the VersuchsStollen?

Accepted Answer

The VersuchsStollen is not a mine but a research infrastructure. Many things are being researched about what can be done underground. Transportation, food production, energy storage, and much more.

What happens in case of bad weather? Can you offer an alternative option?

Accepted Answer

There's no bad weather inside the tunnel! If a pre-event aperitif is planned outside, we have the front part of the restaurant or the Inspiration Room as backup options.

Almost all rooms can be used for a wedding ceremony. We really have several options--depending on your taste and theme. For the wedding celebration, we recommend the Event-Kaverne, which is fully equipped with our kitchen.
